'Who looks outside, dreams;
Who looks inside, awakes.'
- Carl Jung

MY GOAL
I aim to support my clients to develop the tools and resilience to better cope with the world around them, be at peace with the events of the past and more confident about approaching the future.
Everyone has their own unique experience of life and what may be effective for one individual may not work well for others. I believe in aiming for personal, bespoke and sustainable solutions which allow my clients to come away from therapy better prepared to independently live their lives and maintain good mental health.
MY APPROACH
I am a person-centred psychotherapist by training however along my professional journey I have picked up some useful techniques from other modalities such as Solution-focussed brief therapy and CBT, which, where appropriate, I integrate into my practice to adapt to the needs of each client.
I have experience working with a wide range of different individuals of all different backgrounds and age groups and have found a real value in honest human connection. For this reason, I am quite a relaxed sort of practitioner, I don't get hung up on formalities and welcome any style of communication that feels natural in order to create a safe space for authentic self-expression.

It's important that you feel confident that you are able to get the most out of therapy and choosing the right therapist can feel like a daunting task!
This is why I welcome anyone who would like a free informal 15-20 minute chat to give me call or drop me an email so that I can get a sense of what you're looking for and what working together might feel like.
Is Therapy For Me?
I specialise in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger, trauma and stress management.
I am happy to work with anyone but I take a particular sense of joy in working with those who perhaps think that therapy isn't for them.
There is no problem too small or wound too deep that therapy can't help heal.
Talking your issues through and making sense of your life is something I believe everybody should take the opportunity to do, especially if you aim to experience happiness and move on from past traumas in your life.

Whether you want to address a current crisis or embark on a longer term journey towards better mental health, individual therapy is one of the best ways to organise your thoughts, deepen your understanding of yourself, begin to recover from past trauma and develop a healthier approach to the future.
I work on an individual basis with people from all walks of life; young people (16+), university students and adults

Sessions are held online via Google Meet and each individual session typically lasts 50 minutes although extended or double session are available.
For the best results I recommend having sessions on a weeky basis however I do also offer sessions on a bi-weekly basis.

As someone who didn’t really believe in therapy, it has been a total game changer for me! It's been great to have a safe space to just talk about what's on my mind and how best to navigate my family dynamics.
Matthew has helped me figure myself out a lot better and I've learned how to deal with stress in a much healthier way. I've developed healthy coping mechanisms in a way that works for me. I feel calmer, grounded, and more equipped to navigate life's challenges moving forward.
Cam, 30
I have been working with Matthew for over 3 years now and I can only thank him for the positive journey he has helped me go on in my life. Before working with Matthew I was depressed, anxious and very unhappy with my life. Since starting therapy I have recovered from my depression and am able to think much more positively about my future.
Aleisha, 35
'I have been working with Matthew for the past 4 years.
When I first started my therapy sessions, I was in a place of great uncertainty. Every day, I faced a whirlwind of emotions that I found difficult to moderate. After regular sessions with Matthew, I now feel more confident in my ability to manage how I feel. I have been able to develop an array of strategies to regulate my emotions so that I can now handle confrontations, control my anxiety and deal with low moods.'
Elise, 22
Having counselling with Matthew has changed the way I look at my life and helped me understand myself and how my past has affected me. I now feel like I am in control of my life and am able to find peace for the first time in my life.
